Dry Off Analysis – Dry Off Treatments
This part of the software is developed to give a good overview in the dry off treatments. You find this part at: Management -> Health -> Treatments -> Dry off analysis -> Dry off treatments/milk production. When you press on that button you get an overview like below.
There is a possibility for different options. First you choose for: Treatments only. This farm has an easy setup for dry off treatments. It is dry off with antibiotics or dry off without antibiotics. That is why you see two bar charts.
There 4 colours shown in these bars:
White/Healthy: Cow has a low cell count in the last milk control before dry off and a low cell count in the first milk control after calving.
Green/Cured: Cow has high cell count in the last milk control before dry off and a low cell count in the first milk control after calving.
Purple/Chronical: Cow has a high cell count in the last milk control before dry off and a high cell count in the first milk control after calving.
Red/New: Cow has a low cell count in the last milk control before dry off and a high cell count in the first milk control after calving.
You can find the settings for a high cell count as follows:
After that you will see the next screen (at point 3 you can set up what you consider a high cell count):
The chart of dry off without antibiotics is white. This means that the farmer dryed off his cow with a low cellcount without antibiotics and that those animals after calving still have a low cell count.
Which information can we get out of the ‘’dry off with antibiotics’’ chart? The colours white and red actually may not appear in the chart: ‘’dry off with antibiotics’’. This because you normally don’t dry off cows with a low cell count with antibiotics. In this chart it should be only green and purple (preferably as much green as possible).
It is possible to see an analysis per different medicine as follows, for example when you use more than 1 medicine for drying off. In this case noroseal and orbeseal are used.
